Electronic submissions can be emailed to Marisa Palucis at marisa.c.palucis@dartmouth.edu (past-PGD chair). Nominations are due February 29, 2024. The G. K. Gilbert Award is made for outstanding contributions to the solution of a fundamental problem(s) of planetary geology in its broadest sense, including planetary geology, geochemistry, mineralogy, petrology, and tectonics, geophysics, and meteoritics. Such contributions may consist either of a single outstanding publication, or a series of publications that have had great influence on the field. The award is named for G. K. Gilbert, who over one hundred years ago clearly recognized the importance of a planetary perspective in solving terrestrial geological problems. The award consists of an engraved plaque and an appropriate certificate, as well as a session at the GSA Connects meeting honoring the recipient. Please see the PGD website for more information: https://community.geosociety.org/pgd/awards/gilbert 2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2 SETI INSTITUTE BARUCH S. Students (who have a strong interest in a career pursuing scientific research) from either within or outside Japan, regardless of nationality, are eligible to apply. Travel and daily living expenses will be covered, and accommodation in the Misasa Guesthouse will be provided. Total number of Participants: 8-10 Internship dates: July 2 (Tuesday) to August 8 (Thursday), 2024 Last Date of Application: March 24, 2024 (23:59 JST) Details can be found in this link: https://www.misasa.okayama-u.ac.jp/MISIP/ For More details contact: Dr. Tak Kunihiro (misip@adm.okayama-u.ac.jp) 4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4 PHD OPPORTUNITIES IN INTERDISCIPLINARY SPACE SCIENCES AND PLANETARY RESEARCH The Young Researcher Program YRP@Graz welcomes applications for PhD positions. YRP@Graz is jointly supported by the Space Research Institute of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, the Graz University of Technology, and the University of Graz. The application process has two stages with which we aim to decrease selection biases: The first stage of the application process is anonymised (submission deadline: April 30), the second stage is an interview. We seek excellent candidates with a strong background in natural sciences. Successful candidates must hold a Master's degree in (astro)physics, geoscience, computational chemistry, or equivalent at the latest by the starting date of the position but preferably at the time of application. Previous experience on aspects of astrophysics, machine learning and related fields, and a track record of teamwork will be beneficial for the selection, as will experience in computational coding. The three offered projects are: - Machine learning supported exoplanet cloud modelling - Solar eruptions and their global magnetic environment - Magnetic helicity in solar eruptions and related interplanetary disturbances Details about the offered projects and the application process can be found here: http://tinyurl.com/yc8jkuzu We are looking forward hearing from you! Please read below: - Registration deadline: March 1, 2024 - Financial support application deadline: March 1, 2024 - Abstract submission deadline: March 15, 2024 We are delighted to host a 4-day workshop dedicated to terrestrial analogues for extraterrestrial studies in the Greek volcanic island of Milos. Terrestrial Analogues for Solar System Studies June 3-6, 2024 Milos Conference Center https://sites.google.com/view/milosanaloguesworkshop/home Our workshop aims to bring together planetary scientists from all over the world including students and early career scientists in a location of great relevance for planetary geologic topics - the island of Milos in Greece. This region has experienced young volcanism and tectonism (Mars, Venus, Pluto), has undergone atmospheric shaping of volcanic deposits, and carving into yardangs (Mars, Titan, Venus, Pluto), and has current hydrothermal and fumarolic activity (Venus, Io, exoplanets). The workshop will offer a combination of lectures, scientific discussions and field trips, with a central focus around the field. There is no registration fee and financial support will be offered to 10 students/early career scientists: http://tinyurl.com/5yap8kt4 Organizer: Hellenic Space Center Sponsors: EGU, Europlanet Society 7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7 PLANETARY MEETING CALENDAR ADDITIONS Note: Many face-to-face meetings going forward will have online components.
