Their letter suggests that Congressional interest in VIPER's success remains strong, and the enormous outpouring of support for the mission via our community letter to Congress has been a significant part of that. You can find the full text of the announcement and the letter here: https://tinyurl.com/bc7zxwhw In the meantime, please continue to share the link to sign the open letter with your networks. It would be great to reach 5,000 signatures by the time that NASA responds to the committee: https://forms.gle/w1cQjfeNWK81Ta5NA 2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2 [NASA] ROSES-24 AMENDMENT 47: DRAFT F.12 ARTEMIS IV DEPLOYED INSTRUMENTS PROGRAM RELEASED FOR COMMUNITY COMMENT When it is released as final text, F.12 Artemis IV Deployed Instruments Program will solicit proposals for instruments to be deployed on the surface of the Moon during the second crewed lunar south polar landing: https://tinyurl.com/52tyxxwe Deployed instruments will consist of autonomous instrument packages installed on the lunar surface, either robotically or by astronauts during extravehicular activities. These science packages will enable a variety of scientific investigations. Proposed deployed instruments must address one or more of the following identified scientific objectives from NASA's Moon to Mars (M2M) Objectives Document. The identified objectives for this call are LPS-1, LPS-2, LPS-3, HBS-1, HBS-3, HS-1, HS-2, HS-3, HS-4, PPS-1, and PPS-2. Though instruments proposed to this solicitation may address any of these identified M2M objectives, deployed instruments that accomplish higher priority science objectives as identified in the Artemis III Science Definition Team (SDT) report may be considered more favorably. Comments on this draft are due by October 15, 2024, to hq-artemisinstruments@mail.nasa.gov. Questions concerning F.12 Artemis IV Deployed Instruments Program may be directed to hq-artemisinstruments@mail.nasa.gov. 3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3 [NASA] PDS: LUNAR RECONNAISSANCE ORBITER DATA RELEASE 59 The NASA Planetary Data System announces Release 59 of data from the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter mission. This release contains raw, calibrated, and derived data products covering the nominal time period from March 15 through June 14, 2024. Some instrument teams are delivering more recent data. The data are archived at various PDS nodes. - CRaTER at the PPI Node - Diviner at the Geosciences Node - LAMP at the Cartography and Imaging Sciences Node - LEND at the Geosciences Node - LOLA at the Geosciences Node - LROC at the LROC Data Node - Mini-RF at the Geosciences Node - Radio Science at the Geosciences Node - SPICE at the NAIF Node The data may be accessed from: https://pds-geosciences.wustl.edu/missions/lro/ For a dataset-oriented perspective, go to: https://pds.nasa.gov/datasearch/subscription-service/SS-20240913.shtml LRO releases occur every three months. The next release is scheduled for December 13, 2024. 4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4 MASTCAM STEREO ANALYSIS AND MOSAICS (MSAM) 2 DATA RELEASED TO PDS The MSAM 2 collaboration performed comprehensive, systematic processing of MSL Mastcam data to generate stereo and mosaic products for sols 2481 to 3547. The MSAM 2 data set is now available in the PDS: https://tinyurl.com/2tuppdb8 It is a follow-on to the 2016 MSAM PDART effort, producing the same products for additional sols, and comprises 28.5 TB of data. MSAM 2 produced disparity maps, XYZ data, terrain meshes, and more for the Mastcam stereo pairs in the sol range. It also produced 6 types of mosaics, including Mastcam-Navcam context mosaics, orthorectified mosaics and DEMs, stereo mosaics, and finder mosaics. As EDIA professionals we engage in a variety of "difficult" conversations with people and organizations associated with: the established status quo, changemakers, marginalized and underrepresented groups, and ultimately the hardest - ourselves. Dr. Grier will share insight into how changemakers can thoughtfully empower themselves with strategies and resources for more positive outcomes to difficult conversations, as well as how to frame these for ourselves to reduce burnout. To find out more or discuss the topic, please reach out to the XAG EDIA Working Group at planetaryedi@psi.edu or go to our website: https://www.lpi.usra.edu/idea/working-group/ 10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10 SURVEY ON PLANETARY SCIENCE ROSES PROPOSALS Have you submitted NASA proposals as PI or Science PI? Please respond to this 5-min survey! https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/XYMZG2T The intent of this survey is to provide an opportunity for anonymous feedback on proposal submission rates to NASA ROSES programs in the Planetary Science Division and the No Due Date program. This survey is intended for members of the broad planetary community who are eligible to apply for NASA grants as PI or science PI. A number of community members, including members of the OPAG steering committee, the DPS committee, and AGU Planetary Section leadership, provided input to this survey. Results will be assessed by members of the OPAG steering committee and will be made public. Questions and comments can be sent to Amanda Hendrix (arh@psi.edu). Responses to the survey are requested no later than 21 October 2024. 11-11-11-11-11-11-11-11-11-11-11-11-11-11-11-11-11-11-11-11-11-11-11-11 PLANETARY MEETING CALENDAR ADDITIONS Note: Many face-to-face meetings going forward will have online components.
