These workshops, supported by NASA's Topical Workshops, Symposia, and Conferences program, introduce the fundamental principles of stereophotogrammetry and structure-from-motion (SfM) techniques. Participants gain hands-on experience with applications such as BAE System's SOCET SET, Ames Stereo Pipeline, and Agisoft Metashape. Details can be accessed at: https://sic.lpl.arizona.edu/planetary-photogrammetry-workshops Registration at the above link is required by March 19. There is no fee to attend, but participants are responsible for their own travel expenses. We offer two travel grants of up to $2000 each. Travel grant applications are also due on March 19. Due to the specialized hardware required for SOCET SET, attendance is in-person only and is limited to 10 people. We will confirm your spot shortly after the registration deadline. Please do not make any travel arrangements until we confirm we have a place for you. Please contact Shane Byrne (sbyrne@arizona.edu) with any questions. 3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3 PHD IN SPACE PHYSICS - UPPSALA The Swedish Institute of Space Physics (IRF) in Uppsala is seeking a PhD student in space physics to investigate space plasma processes using data from leading space missions like MMS and Solar Orbiter. Here's a link to the press release about the lawsuit: https://tinyurl.com/ynh9eakn In support of this AGU requests stories, examples, etc., of how loss of federal jobs is affecting society. AGU will use this input in a variety of ways, but definitely for decision makers. You can also share this link / request with your colleagues and communities. This is so timely; if you can take a few minutes now to provide your input. The deadline is this week. https://forms.monday.com/forms/f553b2ba8138c257cd61e430b7aeb754?r=use1 Thanks in advance for all your input. We appreciate it very much. Recent reports indicate the NASA budget request for 2026 might include as much as a 50% cut to the Science Mission Directorate. This would be an extinction-level event for space science in the United States. But there's something you can do to stop these cuts: join thousands of fellow Americans in advocating for space science and exploration. The Planetary Society - the world's largest independent space advocacy organization - is hosting a series of informational training sessions at LPSC to provide the science community with the skills to effectively advocate for space science. Led by The Society's DC-based Director of Government Relations, the training will cover the current state of play, an overview of effective advocacy strategies, and plenty of time for questions. Identical sessions are available on Monday (3/10), Tuesday (3/11), and Wednesday (3/12) from 2:00 - 3:00 PM CT in the Grogan's Mill meeting room. Registration is requested but not required to attend: https://forms.gle/szJvyvKaaAoXjB5x9 For more information about The Planetary Society's Space Policy & Advocacy Program, including links to the organization's policy priorities and public budget datasets, go to: https://planetary.org/space-policy-advocacy 18-18-18-18-18-18-18-18-18-18-18-18-18-18-18-18-18-18-18-18-18-18-18-18 NEW HORIZONS SCIENCE SPOTLIGHT WEBINAR Join us on 27 March 2025, 2:30-3pm EST (11:30-12 PST,12:30-1pm MST, 1:30-2pm CST) New Horizons continues its operation, now at 61au from the Sun. Since 2015 it has made ground-breaking discoveries of the Pluto-Charon system, flown past the small contact KBO binary Arrokoth and collected phase and light curve data for some three dozen additional KBOs and the ice giants. It has also been sampling dust density throughout the Solar System and studying the cosmic optical background. To raise awareness of New Horizon's scientific impact we are beginning a new spotlight seminar series (30 min, fourth week each month) which we invite you to attend online, or watch recorded at your convenience. Our speaker will be Simon Porter of Southwest Research Institute and he will be speaking on: "Measuring the Shapes of Kuiper Belt Objects With New Horizons Photometry" Connection Link: https://zoom.us/j/97317697636?pwd=MTAzMjJmNThTeFppR3JoYzlkUXVCQT09 Meeting ID: 973 1769 7636 Passcode: 802327 Calendar for future seminars: https://tinyurl.com/4f57yka4 Recordings are archived and posted at: https://pluto.jhuapl.edu/News-Center/index.php#Spotlight-Presentations For questions, contact New Horizons CoI Susan Benecchi, susank@psi.edu 19-19-19-19-19-19-19-19-19-19-19-19-19-19-19-19-19-19-19-19-19-19-19-19 PLANETARY MEETING CALENDAR ADDITIONS Note: Many face-to-face meetings going forward will have online components.
