The ESA Archival Research Visitor Programme is open to scientists affiliated with institutes in ESA Member States and Cooperating States (all visits must comply with the ESA security directives, which may necessitate additional checks). Early-career scientists, including PhD students, are particularly encouraged to apply and so are women and minorities. The anonymised evaluation process ensures equal opportunities for all applicants. During their stay, visiting scientists will have access to archives and mission specialists for help with the retrieval, calibration, and analysis of archival data. All areas of space research covered by ESA science missions are supported. Residence lasts typically 1-3 months, also distributed over multiple visits. Research projects can be carried out at ESAC (Madrid, Spain) and at ESTEC (Noordwijk, Netherlands). To offset the expenses incurred by visitors, ESA covers travel costs and provides support for lodging expenses and meals. To provide information to the MEP about priority measurements and capabilities of such an imager, The High-Resolution Imager Replacement (HIREP) Measurement Definition Team (MDT) is chartered and shall commence upon selection of the team (consisting of two chairs and ~10-15 members), with a target completion date in the February/March 2027 timeframe, upon submission of a written report of the team's finding and recommendations to the MEP. We welcome submissions on comparative studies of Venus, Earth, and Mars, highlighting the divergent evolutionary pathways of terrestrial planets from Venus' runaway greenhouse conditions to Earth's long-term climate stability and Mars' transition from a wetter, more habitable past to its current arid state. Beyond inner planets, this Special Issue also aims to explore the icy worlds of the outer Solar System. We welcome investigations of Europa and Enceladus focusing, among other topics, on evidence for subsurface oceans, plume activity, and geophysical mechanisms that may create niches for life beneath their ice shells, as well as studies on Titan emphasizing its unique methane-based hydrological cycle, organic-rich surface, and complex interactions between the atmosphere and surface chemistry. Spokane, WA sits on the Columbia River flood basalt that is an analog for basaltic flows on the Moon, Mars, Mercury, and Venus. The Channeled Scablands were formed on the lavas by megafloods from Pleistocene glacial Lake Missoula, and are an analog to Martian outflow channels. The cost covers lunch and bus transportation from the conference center and back in time for the opening ceremony. Most stops are overlooks, but some have very short walks to outcrops. With ESA's RAMSES mission to study Apophis, CNSA's Tianwen-2 to study 469219 Kamo'oalewa and 311P/PanSTARRS, and JAXA's MMX mission to study Phobos and Deimos carrying, for the first time, plasma instruments and a magnetometer, together with advances in our understanding of plasma-surface interactions at airless bodies such as the Moon, we are about to open a new field of research. Moreover, asteroid exploration and research are developing rapidly, providing new flight opportunities for plasma-asteroid interaction experimental studies. The goal of this splinter session is to bring together scientists working on plasma interactions with airless bodies, space plasma simulations, plasma-surface interactions, space weathering, dust dynamics, and the physics of small bodies to begin building the plasma-asteroid interaction community. The project will recruit specialists in Mars weather, surface transport, geochemistry, terrestrial life limits and biostatistics. These experts will work collaboratively to refine and update contamination risk parameters, contributing their domain-specific insights to the assessment process. An interdisciplinary Tiger Team will be formed, operating both in person and virtually. M-FORCE will engage in regular meetings, an in-person working group, data review sessions and collaborative analysis to ensure comprehensive coverage of relevant scientific inputs. The M-FORCE Tiger Team has a three-month project timeline estimated to run from September to November 2026.
